Still Rolling Along!

This past Sunday we traveled down to Cincinnati, Ohio to play Xavier in our last non-conference match up and returned home having produced a great result. The team got off to a record breaking start once the whistle blew, and Xavier found themselves down 1-0 and picking the ball out of the back of their net just 19 seconds into the Match! Following the beginning kickoff, Senior Gina Rossi received the ball deep behind the Xavier backline and played a great ball across to fellow Senior Corbie Yee who finished with a masterful shot that dipped just over the outstretched hand of the XU goalkeeper. We continued to dominate most of the possession and had quite a few other good chances to notch another goal, but ended up going into halftime with a 1-0 lead. XU came out strong at the beginning of the second half, but was unsuccessful against our solid defensive play and soon became frustrated and dejected. We continued to find good chances on goal, and eventually converted one mid-way into the second half on a textbook finish by Katie Stephenson. Brianne Eisenhard and Stacy Lucas helped to make the second goal possible and were both credited with the assist. We would hang onto the lead for the remainder of the game and eventually come away with a 2-0 win. With the win, goalkeeper Alexa Arsenault and the BG defensive backline recorded their 4th consecutive shutout. The team enjoyed a great bus ride to and from Cincinnati.

We conducted our annual "Soccer Superlatives" survey on the way down, and on the way back the players tested their vocal abilities by singing karaoke on the travel bus's microphone. The team dynamic is absolutely great and you cant help but laugh and have a great time right along with them and their goofball antics.
