Friday night the BG Women's Soccer team completed their homestand with a win over the University Detroit-Mercy. With the win, BG now stands on a 4-2-2 record and is enjoying a five game unbeaten streak.
The first half started off slow...we were unable to find a rythym and we just didn't seem to have all of our thoughts and ideas together. However, after some half-time adjustements and a gut check, we were able to generate some great play during the second half and exploded offensively for a 4-0 victory. Freshman Katelyn Turner produced the game winning goal off of a Katie Stephenson corner that helped to spark our offense. Before the final whistle was blown, Leah Johnson and Kristin McDonald would also find the back of the net. An own goal by the Detroit Titans would also add to the 4-0 dismantling.
The team headed to Cincinnati, Ohio for their next game against Xavier. See above for the results!
