Third Match

We played today at Cochrane Field against Michigan State and ended up on the wrong side of a 3-0 scoreline. MSU is a very good team and will likely go to the NCAA tournament. The coaches were very happy with the effort and the desire the team showed today. We take a lot of positives from the game, and work to improve on the weak points. We will be back on the road on Friday when we travel to Fort Wayne, IN to take on IPFW. Til then....ROLL ALONG!

Second Match

We traveled to Rochester Michigan to play Oakland University yesterdy afternoon. After 110 minutes of scoreless soccer, we came away with a tie. Everyone was dissapointed with the result, but proud of their effort. The coaches were proud of the entire team for their defensive effort in pitching the shut-out. We now focus on Michigan State as they travel to BG for a 1:00pm start on Sunday. We hope to see you there!

First Match

The BGSU Women's Soccer team played its first match yesterday night at the University of Cincinnati. We came out on the short end of a 3-1 score, but there were many positives to take from the game including 5th year senior Gina Rossi scoring a goal in the first half and freshmen Leah Johnson playing extremely well in her collegiate debut. Also, Bri Eisenhard made a triumphant return to her hometown and drew praise from the coaching staff for her all around great performance. We now have a week off before we play at Oakland University on Friday.

Below, Bri is our tour guide for the trip.

Pre-Season Fun

The team took some much needed time off from their regularly scheduled, and intense, practice sessions to enjoy some relaxation and team bonding activities. The group set off for "Camp Blandakowa", the name given to the Bland's lakehouse, and enjoyed a fun-filled day of sun, boat rides, hula hoop contests, a cornhole tournament, great food and a ton of laughs. Quality time and overall enjoyment was shared by everyone and on an important sidenote: Susan Hunter and Kaitlyn Kobe handily defeated Scott and Andy in the Cornhole Championship game. Both the coaches declined to comment on the incident. A canoeing trip was also planned for the Indian Lake trip, and was quite a site for anyone who witnessed the spectacle. Gina and Sam found themselves tipped over not even 2 minutes into the trip and wound up with buckets of water in their canoe for the rest of the time. It is thought that this water was the culprit in the other 5 times that Gina and Sam found the bottom of the river.... Bri and her canoeing partner, Bhop, also had trouble navigating the course. It seemed as though these two preferred to zig-zag down the river instead of following the natural current, which would have been a more efficient alternative... Almost making it to the end was Kelsey, who fell into the river while attempting to exit the canoe at the unloading zone.... Jackie and Precious (Katelyn), despite losing an oar halfway through the trip, were crowned the winners of the 1st annual BGSU Women's Soccer canoe race. The following week, the team took an afternoon off to spend some time at Carter Park. The team convened into their "pre-season competitive teams" and took each other on in both soccer golf and soccer volleyball. At one point, Alexa had to shimmy up a tree in order to collect her miss-hit tee-off and had to take a one stroke penalty. (BTW Alexa, you owe us $45 to replace the ball you popped). Z produced the lowest score and was pronounced the winner of the golf challenge, while Gina drug her team to the losers bracket by having the highest score. Soccer volleyball started out as a friendly competition, but ended with two bloody noses. Thankfully, both incidences were non-contact related, and the two players are back to normal. After the players were completely covered in sand and in pain from the overinflated soccer balls, Team A was crowned the winners of this week's activities and were handsomely rewarded with chipotle burritos.

Orange & White Scrimmage

The 2008 Women's Soccer team was divided up in two equal teams for the annual Orange & White scrimmage. The team's played three 30 minute periods on Cochran Field. The white team, coached by Assistant Tiff Hansen, scored in the first five minutes off a blistering shot by sophomore Meagan Moran. The orange team came back to tie and take the lead off of goals by senior Gina Rossi and sophomore Jackie Tamerlano. In the 90th minute a disputed hand ball was called for a PK, senior Kristin McDonald calmly put the ball into the net for a 2-2 tie.

The white team won the use of the locker room and the video camera before the game. Below is their footage.

New Locker Room Unveiled

The locker room belonging to the BGSU Women’s Soccer team recently underwent some remodeling and was revealed during this year’s first day of preseason. The team reported to the locker room to receive their gear and were completely unaware of the transformations that took place over the summer break. Click here to see pictures of the locker room unveiling event.

The ceremony was attended by all the players, the coaching staff, and the Senior Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator, Janna Blais, who helped make the locker room remodeling possible. The team would also like to extend a special thanks to Athletic Director, Greg Christopher, and Jim Elsasser, Assistant Athletic Director of Internal Affairs.
